CCFW members Mark Thurmond, Lori Haus-Bulcock and Vince Windisch joined the Future Forestry tree-planting event on March 9, 2024. Future Forestry Director Russ Ringland generously donated ten Sycamore trees to CCFW, which we planted to honor the 2023 Burrowing Owl Festival sponsors. The Sycamore saplings will grow between 3 ft. to 6 ft. per year. In 5 years, they will be 20 ft. tall! They can grow to 175 feet high and their lifespan in the wild is 200 – 400 years.

Mark, Lori and Vince worked alongside dozens of highschool students who pitched in to plant over 100 trees, bushes and flowers for Future Forestry’s monthly Veterans Highway planting program. The students helped CCFW dig holes and haul mulch! We helped them plant huge maple trees. A wonderful community collaboration.
